GSK and McLaren entered into a scientific partnership in 2011, based on knowledge sharing, GSK provide human performance science, enabling the McLaren drivers to be sharper and fitter, while McLaren share some of their deep knowledge in telemetry, data management and engineering.
As part for the agreement, the drinking vessel for the drivers was used as a key ‘on screen’ communication tool.
The Lucozade driver bottle, the ultimate high end embodiment of the Lucozade brand language, was custom designed to be ultra hard wearing, keep the drink cool (in very high track temperatures), be non slip and have a non leak straw that can feed into the driver helmet.
Only 10K units were ever produced to ensure the fans could own a 'rare' piece of driver memorabilia.
